Exploring the transformative potential of alternative economic development approaches

Insights North East, with the support of the Royal Society of Edinburgh, is hosting a workshop to explore the role and take up of alternative economic development agendas by local policymakers.

Reflecting on workshops held in Birmingham, Cardiff, Sheffield and Glasgow, and bringing in new insights from the North East of England and Pittsburgh in the US, we will consider the buy-in to policymaking approaches including: inclusive growth; wellbeing economy; foundational economy; doughnut economics; community wealth building. Which of these approaches are gaining traction, what are the impediments to their implementation, how do we know if they are succeeding?

Important event details:

  • This is a hybrid event, though we encourage colleagues in the North East to join in person, where possible. If you would like to sign up to attend online, please register through this form.
